Gathering resources for different art forms. We try to cover 3 main bases, with direct links to the sites and places we have found helpful. With so much information being around, whether good or bad, its hard to find the things that could actually matter to your craft.Aethel Studios is artist run, with the hopes of making art more easily accessible to everyone.

Typically when someone mentions art or the arts, they are just talking about visual arts like painting and illustration. Here we have resources for illustration, writing, and music composition.

Though this space is designed to make information on the various art forms easy to find, make sure to always do your own research.
We will always try our best to exclude potentially biased information that includes sponsorships, endorsements, or affiliations. As well as mention when we have found a lot of those things for a resource we have put here.
If your art form isn't here, or you have additions to recources you can fill out this form or do go to the discord and open a ticket.

Theres a great sheet of adobe alternatives by @XdanielArt. They are all labeled with either free, open source, subscription, and one time purchase, as well as where they are available from. The orignal post is on Twitter so- here's it reposted on github.

CarrdSimple, free, fully responsive one-page sites for pretty much anything. We used Carrd to make this site! It's pretty easy to use and can be adjusted to fit on mobile. The plans to be able to add more are charged yearly, and when up/down grading mid plan you just pay or are credited the difference.Use it for portfolios, commissions, shops, or anything you could think of; all it takes is a bit of creativity. And, if you want to push it further, you can add your own elements with coding embeds.

Internet ArchiveInternet Archive is a non-profit library of millions of free texts, movies, software, music, websites, and more. You can find stuff for pretty much anything here. With a free account you can check out a lot more books by borrowing them. So, if there's anything you want to check out search them up here to see if it's available.

Drawclass Patreon Stream VODsWelcome to Drawfee where we turn dumb ideas into even dumber drawings! They make monthly patreon classes, mostly for illustration, but occasionally they will do other things as well. All classes become available to everyone a month after the stream.

Line of ActionLine of Action provides reference photos and practice tools for visual artists to hone their craft.A good tool for doing studies of anything; people, animals, expressions, landscapes, and more. It also has a tutorial to help you learn what to do when it comes to figure drawing.

UnsplashThe internet’s source for visuals. Powered by creators everywhere.Great for referencing and it's not too difficult to find hyper-specific references. The images fall under free use, however, do credit the artist who created it when you use one.

CaraCara is a social media and portfolio-sharing platform for artists and art enthusiasts. The devs of Cara are also artists. It's used primarily by illustrators, but you can post GIFs and videos as well. There is also a jobs tab where you can find work, just make sure to do some checks before applying to anything.

ArtStationEmpowering Artists to ThriveGood for hosting portfolios and finding potential work. Is used by both 2D and 3D artists. However the baseline quality of work is much higher, so do not expect to gain traction from within ArtStation itself..

PatreonFund the creative class.Set up memberships and a shop to give your followers a way to support you to keep doing what you enjoy. You can also combine posts into collections to help seperate the projects you work on.

ibisPaint XShare the drawing process of your artwork. The social drawing app - ibisPaintEasy to use and only need to watch one ad to be able to use the rest of the brushes for your drawing session. Ibis is great to start getting into digital art since it has tools for general illustration, comic making, and now some animation.

KritaKrita is a professional FREE and open source painting program. It is made by artists that want to see affordable art tools for everyone.Krita is the most like other paid illustration softwares whilst being free. It has a wide varitey of tools and brushes, and the ability to import and create new ones. Despite being downloadable on other devices, Krita is definitely desktop only.

Why isnt photoshop linked? - Cattos NotePhotoshop, while commonly used, was not built with illustration in mind. It's much harder to learn than alternatives, and the only reason it's still popping up is that it's kind of an industry standard. Also, the cost is so high that I'd feel bad putting it here. $275.88USD/yr for photoshop vs $119.99USD/yr for CSP's premium EX. Now, is there personal bias considering CSP is what I use? Maybe, but an extra $150USD/yr is not worth it.

For releasing music theres a few ways you can go; subscriptions, pay per release, and free to upload.
Each of these have their pros and cons and you should do your own research on which method would be the best for you.
Subscription based is the one brought up the most, unfortunately it is the most predatory out of all the methods. I would not suggest going near them as you will pay more for the subscription, especially if you don't already have a larger fan base, than you will earn back.Cattos Note: Looking through things I've noticed LANDR has a lot of articles where the authors have affiliate links.Only Bandcamp has a special little spotlight below, personally I think it's the best option out of what is available, especially for being free. That being said, I don't know too much about YT Music, for videos I know it's one of the better ones for creators (but the bar is in hell, so take that for what you will).

BandcampBandcamp is an online record store and music community where passionate fans discover, connect with, and directly support the artists they love.Bandcamp is a free to upload site where you can host your music. The way bandcamp pays artists through fans buying tracks and albums, they do take roughly 20% but that's much pretty on par with other options.

Aethel Studios is free, it's staying free forever. Not every resource might be free, but I'm sure as hell going to try find free stuff, that's actually good, for everything, and hopefully some stuff you don't need to even create an account to use. We're all (probably) broke, and we don't need the arts gatekept further (moreso music and writing). I'm tired, you're tired, we're all tired of corporate bs.Have a nice day, and have a nice time doing art.
Thank you for using this little place.
